Chapter 25

Mickey continued to hold Jacqui close as the paramedics covered up Becca's crumpled body under a white sheet. Jacqui shivered as she saw the blood seep through the white covering of her once friend. She looked up to see who she was leaning on and saw that it was Mickey. "What are you doing here?" she asked, pulling away.
"Well I was driving by and I saw you so I decided to check out what all the fuss was... and you were crying so I just thought I could do something..." his voice trailed off.
Jacqui winced. She looked at Mickey and thanked God for him being there. She glanced over at the other bodies laying on the ground. With Mickey at her side not letting go of her, she slumped towards the other paramedics. "How are the others going to be?" she asked one standing over Taylor.
The man looked up at her and Jacqui recognized his face. She couldn't remember where she had seen the man before but his dark eyes lingered in her mind as she traced back, trying to remember where she had seen this man. He spoke, interrupting her thoughts. "This one's going to be okay. He's got a concussion, but we believe he's going to pull through," he finished.
"What about Isaac and.... him," she said, pointing an angry finger at Ravi, who as of now had ruined her life.
"Well, I don't know who is who, but the one with the long brown hair is in a coma. We're not sure if he'll pull through. All we can do now is wait. And as for the other one.. well, he's lucky. His hands are both completely broken, but has no damage to his cranial area. He's going to be fine," the paramedic said with a weak smile.
Jacqui walked over to Ravi, looked at him, and spit in his face. "You'll never play guitar again... and you killed my friend. You're serving life. Now what do you have to live for?" she demanded harshly.
He looked at her with fear in his dark eyes and said nothing.
"Scum," she finished, and sat on the grass next to Mickey. She leaned on his shoulder and didn't say anything. She couldn't even cry. Her tears had run dry.
"How ya doin?" he asked her quietly.
She looked at him for a moment, and looked at the ground. She couldn't say anything. There was nothing left to say.

"Okay Ann.. Miche... whatever your name is.. what the heck is going on?!" Vega demanded of her... driver?
Michelle pulled over. "Alright, let's go through this. You have to promise me now that whatever I tell you will remain secret throughout... ok?".
Vega looked suspiciously at Michelle. "Start talking, then I'll let you know how I feel," she answered, crossing her arms and raising an eyebrow.
Michelle rolled her eyes. "Do you want to hear what's going on or not?" she snapped.
Vega refrained from talking back. Instead she pursed her lips shut and sat quietly for about a half an hour.
"Well... first tell me what you know," Annie said finally, breaking the silence.
Vega talked about the diary she had found... and that was basically it. She couldn't remember anything else... plus the fact that she didn't quite trust this Annie/Michelle girl.
"Boy you are over-rated! They were wrong, you're no threat! You're just a blonde!" Annie said, throwing Vega out of the car and back onto the deserted part of the highway she was on. Annie drove off, shaking her head as she left. Vega looked down at her now-mud-ridden outfit, and looked for any signs of life she could find. There were none... just grass.. as far as the eye could see. Grass. Meadows. Fences scattered. And grass.
"Can anything else go wrong!?" Vega asked no one. As if on cue, the rain began. "I just had to ask."

"Sorry to bother you miss... but I know you were in the accident... can you tell me any way of contacting the late girl's family?" the kind-faced paramedic asked Jacqui and she gazed up from Mickey's warm shoulder.
"Yeah... here," she said with a downward gaze, tossing him her address book from her purse. "The last name is Chrisom."
The paramedic's face went ashen. "Did... did you just say Chrisom?" he asked her.
She looked up at him and studied his face. Still she could not recall where she knew him from. "Yeah... how do you know her?" Chika asked.
He didn't answer, but ran over to the body and pulled the sheet off of her face. He then began weeping. Some of the other paramedics had begun trying to recover her up and put her into a body bag, but the man continued crying horrible agonizing groans that made one's side cringe when hearing him. "Beck.. Becky... No!" he continued bawling.
Mickey raised an eyebrow. "Who IS that?" he asked Jacqui.
Jacqui looked at him and her jaw dropped. She covered her mouth and said, "It can't be!".
