Chapter 13
Vega sat on the chair in her kitchen and pouted. Maybe I should call Jason she thought. She reconsidered. Nah! She got up and stretched and sighed, looking around her sparkling kitchen. Gosh I'm so bored! she said to herself. She trudged up the stairs and sat in front of her computer. Wow, I haven't been online in 3 whole days! she thought to herself, rolling her eyes. "Welcome!" the AOL voice greeted her. "You've got mail!", it said again. She put the comp on mute to block out any more annoying voices that could be said, and clicked on the mailbox. She scrolled down past all the forwarded messages from Caron and the newsletters from Amber. Nothing exciting. She made a face at the screen and went to her favorite website, www.hansonline.com, and clicked into the downloads. She scrolled down past the pictures. There was a nice one of Tay, but everything else was dull. She sighed, and signed off. ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
"Chica, I'm dying here!" Becca whispered to Jacqui as the two were still hidden in the blue bug's backseat. "Gosh, me too!" Jacqui giggled. "I mean, our fantasy boyfriends are right in front of us! It's just too good to be true!" she continued. "I wonder if Ike's guitar is in the trunk!! Maybe I could teach him a thing or two!" Becca said, a little too loud, but no response came from the front of the vehicle because of the loud radio, tuned to 89X. Creed was on... "...see a vision of the cross, I feel the pain that was given on a sad day of loss...". Jacqui rolled her eyes at Becca. "Sheesh chica, guitars, guitars, guitars! Is that all you think about?" she said, hostilly. "No!" Becca replied defensively. There's 'We've Captured the General' and Guime and Phil and Ike and..." Jacqui cut her off. "SHH!! They'll hear you!" she said, putting her pointer finger over her mouth. Becca slapped her hand over her own mouth and the two girls listened to their heart-throbs talk.
"So Ike, did you find any chicks at the mall?" Tay asked with a pathetic attempt to start a conversation with his much more mature older brother. "Nope, I saw one chick with a hanson shirt, but I felt dumb being in such a girly store so I left and came to get you," Ike said with a downcast glance. "Ike! Look out! You're going to run right into that car!" Taylor said, with a voice heightening in anxiety. Ike swerved just in time to miss the old station-wagon. "Geez, I'm younger than you and I can drive better!" Tay said sarcastically. "Don't mess with me Taylor, I've had a REALLY BAD DAY!" Ike yelled at him. "Sheez, don't break a guitar string!" Tay said quietly, and resumed his very interesting study of the outside of his window. The grey clouds above burst, and the rain started pouring down on the window. "I'm going to pull over, it's too heavy," Ike said, turning the steering wheel to the right. "Whatever..." Taylor said, not caring. Ike got to the side of the road amongst some other cars and stopped the car, turning off the engine. "Don't say a word!" Jacqui mouthed to Becca. Becca nodded and put her head down, preparing to fall asleep to the steady beat of the rain on the windowpanes of the blue bug. Ike leaned back and closed his eyes, trying not to cry. Tay looked at him and scowled. He put his head on the back of the seat, and closed his eyes as well. Jacqui was the only one who wasn't interested in sleeping. She waited until she thought for sure that everyone was asleep, and then prepared for her move. ~*~*~*~*~ Vega noticed the rain was pouring down really hard, so she unplugged her computer and TV. She headed toward her bedroom, jumped onto her bed and held the piece of paper that Taylor had given her to her heart. She was afraid to read it, thinking it would be a break-up note. She held it to her heart and prayed, "Dear God, if it's your will, help Taylor and me be together forever," she said with closed eyes. She opened them and sighed deeply, making her feel more relaxed. She slowly unfolded the white lined piece of paper and began reading.
Dear V,
Hey there hun. I wanted to tell you so much during this trip... but I didn't know how to say what I needed to say. First of all, inside this note is a picture that Dad took of us... I don't think you knew he did. Now, I have to tell you this. I... don't know how to tell you, so I'll just say it. You are everything in the world to me, and i love you more than anything and everything. It tore me apart to see you cry, and in the opposite light, it gave me the greatest joy in the world to wake up next to you. Not for sex, but just because you were there, in my arms. I've never felt like this about anyone before. Vega Alanna Madeleine Hansen, I love you.
Vega stopped reading for a second to cry out a tear of happiness. She said aloud, "Thank you Lord!" and continued reading.
I just hope that you can grow to love me the same. I know Angie must have been a beautiful baby if she came from you. I know your mom would kill us both if she found out. I know that everything i do, i do it for you. I know a lot about you, and you have taught me everything I need to know, about how to love someone. I never knew how powerful it could feel to have such an emotion. I love you.
Vega smiled again and sighed. "I love you too," she said to the photo of the 2 of them.
